Corporate Social Responsibility
Setmil Group of Companies believe in bringing positive social change to the world. We invest our efforts into building communities and uplifting the quality of life around us.
A "little village" consisting of 25 new houses were constructed by Sea Consortium Lanka (PVT) Ltd, an initiative undertaken to help those displaced by the tsunami that struck Sri lanka in 2004. The humanitarian aid project was constructed in Rasandeniya in Matara, in efforts to restore hope and re-build the lives of Sri Lankans affected.
In 2016, Setmil Group contributed towards the restoration of the Sermon Hall - "Sri Dharmarama Naa Himi Building" in the 130-year old Vidyalankara Pirivena, one of the largest Buddhist monastic colleges in Sri Lanka.
Prime Mover Driver Training
Each year, over 2000 individuals are trained as prime mover drivers, for a nominal fee, and are engaged in port activities to provide an opportunity to build a career. The training and experience gained from the programme allow for many to find better prospects for employment overseas.
Contribution to Flood Victims
During the Flood Disaster took place in May 2017 where most of the citizens in this country were affected and at the request of Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents (CASA), The Setmil Group has joined them in donating Dry Rations for the Flood Victims.
Also at the request of Hon Mahinda Samarasinghe - Minister of Ports and Shipping, our Chairman / Managing Director Mr. Arjuna Hettiarachchi has contributed 25 Packs of Dry Rations to be distributed among those affected by the floods.
